Django Development Services We Provide

Most enquiries we get fall into one of four shapes. Each is a different kind of Django engagement, and each is priced differently.

• New product builds. Greenfield Django applications, B2B SaaS platforms, and MVPs. If you have a specification, we quote a fixed budget so the cost is known before work starts. Yomdel began this way in 2014 as a six-month MVP.
• Taking over an existing codebase. Django upgrades, dependency and Python-version migrations, performance work, and adding REST APIs to applications that never had them. This is the most common reason firms come to us.
• Ongoing support and maintenance. A retained Django support agency for products already in production - security updates, framework upgrades, bug fixes, and incremental features on a monthly contract.
• Dedicated Django developers. Engineers who work as your remote engineering department, in your process and your standups, at $55 per developer per hour.

Inheriting a Django Project Someone Else Left Behind

A large share of our Django work is rescue work: a codebase built years ago by developers who have since moved on, pinned to a Django version that no longer receives security fixes, with a test suite that does not run. The instinct is to rewrite. It is usually the wrong call - a rewrite throws away years of encoded business rules that nobody has written down.

NewInBridge B.V., a Netherlands-based company, came to us with exactly this. Their uBid bridge-practice platform ran on Django 1.5, Tastypie, and Python 2.7. Previous developers had left inefficient database queries and architectural limits that blocked every new feature. Rather than restart, we modernised it in place - onto Django REST Framework and a current Python - fixed the performance problems, and rebuilt the iOS and Android apps on Swift and modern Android, then added the e-learning features the old architecture could not support.

That is the pattern: stabilise, upgrade incrementally, keep the product live throughout, and only replace the parts that genuinely cannot be saved.

Choosing

A Django Agency, a Freelancer, or an In-House Hire?

These solve different problems, and the honest comparison matters more to us than winning every enquiry.

• A freelancer is the cheapest way to get a well-specified, self-contained piece of work done. The risk is continuity: one person gets ill, takes another contract, or moves on, and the knowledge leaves with them. Much of our rescue work starts here.
• An in-house hire is right once Django is core to your business and you have enough steady work to keep an engineer busy and supported. Below that threshold you are paying for idle capacity and a single point of failure.
• A Django development firm makes sense when you want a team rather than a person - someone to own architecture, review each other's code, cover holidays, and still be there in three years. That is what an 11-year Yomdel partnership and a nine-year non-profit partnership actually look like.

Process

How a Django Project Actually Runs Here

No discovery workshop invoice, no six-week inception phase. The sequence is short on purpose.

• 1. A call, not a questionnaire. You describe what you are building and what is already in place. We ask the questions that change the estimate - existing data, integrations, compliance, who maintains it afterwards.
• 2. A written quote. If the scope is clear, you get a fixed budget and we carry the estimation risk. If it genuinely is not clear, we say so and propose time & materials rather than invent a number we would need to renegotiate later.
• 3. Delivery you can watch. Daily commits to a repository you own, bi-weekly Scrum releases, and a working URL early enough to change your mind while changing your mind is still cheap.
• 4. Handover, then the part most agencies skip. Every project ships with a two-week bug-resolution warranty (longer on larger projects), and we stay available afterwards. Our longest Django partnership is in its eleventh year.

We take responsibility for the systems we build, which is easy to write on a website and only provable by staying long enough to be measured on whether the thing actually works. Our rates, including what a Django project typically costs, are published on the rates page rather than quoted on request.
